Megalithic Culture

The Megalithic culture flourished about 1100 BC in South India and
Deccan. These people were known as megalithic people because
they buried their dead and encircle it by megaliths or stone
boulders. Their megaliths were mainly found on trade routes and
around river valleys. The size and shape of these burial graves are
different. Some of them are very big and have entrances. Some of
them are marked by megalithics along the periphery. These people
buried their deads with pottery, tools, weapons, beads jewellery
and coins. These burials are a rich source of information about the
culture and society of that period.
