One day, Early Man saw a log of wood rolling down the slope. It
gave him an idea. He cut a slice of a log and made a hole in the
middle. He fixed it to his sledge. This was how the wheel was
invented.
Gradually, he learnt how to make different types of vehicles.
Today, we can see bicycles, scooters, cars, trains and aeroplanes
which all run on wheels. The wheel has made our life fast and easy.
Other Uses of the Wheel
With time, man found new uses of the wheel. The potter’s wheel is
used to make clay pottery. In it, a wheel is fixed on the ground
which rotates on its axle. The wheel is also used in spinning cotton
and many appliances in your house. The wheel is the idea behind
the microwave, pizza-cutter, pen, joint of specs, stapler, door-hinge,
fan and more things around you.
