                                                     Flat lowlands are called plains. They are

                                                     fertile. Many rivers flow through them. It
                                                     is easy to grow crops there. It is also easy

                                                     to build roads, railways and buildings. A

                                                     very large number of people live in the

                                                     plains.


                Desert


            A desert is an area where it rains little. It

            is sandy or rocky. It can be hot or cold.
            Due to scarcity of water, it is difficult to

            grow crops here. The camel is an

            important animal of the desert.





                                                           Plateau


                                                     A plateau is a high flat land. It has a
                                                     rocky surface. It is difficult to grow crops

                                                     there. Many minerals are found here.
