after 14 years of exile. People clean, paint and decorate their
houses, shops and offices. They give sweets and gifts to one
another. They greet one another. They worship Lord Ganesha and
Goddess Lakshmi on this day. Children are very happy on this day.
They burst crackers. They must be careful while doing this.
Holi
Holi is an important festival of
the Hindus. It is called the
festival of colours . It is celebrated
in the month of March over two
days. On the first day evening, a
bonfire called Holika is raised.
On the following day, people
play with colours; they hug one
another and greet one another.
Children enjoy this festival with water-filled balloons and water-
guns. Women cook several dishes. Gujhia is a popular dish of this
festival.
Eid
Eid is an important festival of the
Muslims. It comes at the end of a
month-long fasting month of
Ramzan . On this day, they offer
prayers in the Eidgah. They hug
one another and greet one
another. They exchange sweets.
They also do charity to the poor.
