              Festivals and I




              Festivals are a time for fun and joy; at the same time, they are a time to think

              for others. When you are enjoying, it is the time                    to ensure that everybody
              around you is happy.

              Festivals are of several kinds.

              i Social festivals are social occasions, like National Youth Day on 12 January,

                 International Women’s Day on 8 March.
              i Religious festivals are celebrated to mark religious occasions.

              i National festivals are celebrated to mark occasions of national importance.




            India is a land of festivals. There are a large number of festivals

            celebrated here.


                Diwali



            Diwali is an important
            festival of the Hindus. It

            is called the festival of

            lights   . It is celebrated in

            the month of October or
            November. It is believed

            that Lord Rama returned

            to Ayodhya on this day
