Unity in Diversity in People
Different types of people live in India, yet they are
one in spirit.
Unity in Racial Diversity
People of different races live in India, like
Mongols, Aryans, Dravidians; yet they all are one
in spirit.
Unity in Religious Diversity
People of different religions live in India, like
Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Jains, Parsees
and so on; yet they all are Indians. Hinduism is the
oldest religion; some religions have branched out
from Hinduism; for example, Buddhism, Jainism,
Sikhism. Many invaders and other people came
here and our country assimilated them all in its fold;
for example, Islam, Zoroastrianism, Christianity etc.
Whenever India is faced with any difficulty, the
people of different religions stand together under
the Tricolour and face the difficulty together.
Unity in diversity
Some people try to mislead people on grounds of
religious diversity. They are evil people. We
should keep away from them.
Unity in Linguistic Diversity
The people of India speak different languages and
dialects. It is said that language in India changes
every four and a half miles. There are a total of
in different parts of India. Twenty-three languages
have been included in the 8th Schedule of the
Constitution of India.
The languages mentioned in the 8th Schedule of
the Constitution of India are :
Assamese, English, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati,
Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili,
Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya,
Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu,
Urdu.
Hindi in Devnagri script is the official language of
India, yet the states are free to use their state
language. Thus, all languages enjoy the same
status. Some people try to mislead people on
grounds of linguistic diversity; they are evil people
and should not be encouraged.

India is a large country, so it has been divided into
28 states, 8 union territories and 1 National

that India can be governed properly.

Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhatisgarh,
Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh,
Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh,
Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram,
Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim,
Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttarakhand,
Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
The 9 union territories are : Andaman and
Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar
Haveli, Daman and Diu, Jammu and Kashmir,
Lakshadweep, Puducherry, and National Capital,
Ladakh, Territory of Delhi.
Some people try to mislead people on grounds of
regional diversity. They are wicked people. We
