9          Places of Worship







              God and I




              We call God by different names. Different people pray to God in different ways.

              They build different types of places of worship.

              If you want God’s love, follow the simple principles :

              i Be honest and never tell a lie.

              i Never hurt any person or animal.
              i Do your work devotedly.

              i Respect all persons and serve the suffering.



            In a neighbourhood, different people follow different religions.

            They have different ways to pray and go to different places of

            worship.


            The Hindus pray to God in a temple                            . They offer water, flowers,

            fruits and sweets to God. For them, God is one Who is represented

            in various forms like Rama, Krishna, Shiva, Durga and other gods

            and goddesses. A pujari looks after a temple and helps people in

            the Puja. There are numerous holy books for the Hindus; the
            important ones being the Ramayana                          , the Vedas         and the Bhagwad

            Gita   .


            The Muslims pray to God in a mosque                          . They offer namaz             five times

            a day. Their holy book is the Quran                     .
