                 6. What are the remains of dead plants and animals called?
            G. Answer the questions in brief :

                 1. What are the two layers in the core? Compare them.
                 2. What is the difference between sedimentary rocks and metamorphic rocks?
                 3. Why are igneous rocks called primary rocks?
                 4. What do you understand by metamorphism?
                 5. What mineral can be pressed into wires and sheets and what cannot? Give examples.

                 6. What are extrusive rocks?
            H. Answer the questions in detail :
                 1. What are minerals? What are their types? Explain them.

                 2. What do you understand by the layers of the earth?
                 3. What is magma? How does it change into rocks?
                 4. Describe the formation of metamorphic rocks.
                 5. How does rock cycle take place?

                 6. What are the three types of rocks? What do you understand by igneous rocks?

                 1. Why is the earth’s outer core is in liquid form and inner core in solid form?
                 2. If you want to find a diamond, which type of rock is likely to serve your purpose?

                                                               Ores
Ores are the mixture of minerals. They are processed to yield an industrial mineral or treated chemically
to yield a single or several metals. Ores that are generally processed for only a single metal are those of
iron, aluminium, chromium, tin, mercury, manganese, tungsten, and some ores of copper. All ores are
complex yielding a number of metals.

                                   Ore Metal Article

Ores undergo a beneficiation process by physical methods before being treated by chemical methods to
recover the metals. Beneficiation processes involve liberation of minerals by crushing and grinding, then
separation of the individual mineral by physical methods (gravity, magnetic, etc.) or physicochemical
                 methods (flotation).

                                                                                                 Inside the Earth
